Band Bio: Red Raven Chaos

RRC

Band Name: The name of the band is RED RAVEN CHAOS. The initial idea for the band’s name came from Oswaldo Contramaestre, the guitarist. He suggested it to the bassist, Samir Acosta, saying, "I have the perfect name for a metal band that I’ve always wanted to use, and the moment has finally come." He wanted the band to be called RED RAVEN. At that moment, the bassist felt something was missing, something that would represent the aggressiveness of what the project would become. So, he suggested adding the word CHAOS, and the name was born!

Band Members:

  • Frank Guzzi "Bambino" – Lead Vocals

  • Samir Acosta – Bassist

  • Oswaldo Contramaestre "Ozzy" – Guitarist

  • Rob Henx – Guitarist

  • Orlando Rodriguez "Máquina" – Drummer

Genre:Groove Metal

Formation Year: The band was formed in 2020 by Oswaldo Contramaestre (guitarist), Rosvi Rodriguez (guitarist), and Samir Acosta (bassist) as the initial founders. Some time later, Orlando Rodriguez joined on drums, Frank Guzzi became the lead vocalist, and in 2021, Rob Henx replaced Rosvi Rodriguezon guitar.

Hometown: The band is originally from Montreal, Canada, but its members come from different countries: Frank Guzzi is Italian-Canadian, Samir Acosta, Oswaldo Contramaestre, and Orlando Rodriguez are from Venezuela, and Rob Henx is from Brazil. This creates a very unique mix of cultures that give life to Red Raven Chaos.

Origin Story:It’s an interesting story because Oswaldo and Samir came from other bands of the same genre in Venezuela, but they never crossed paths in their own country. Once in Canada, they met through different bands and even auditioned for metal groups in Montreal. Their friendship grew, and they decided to form Red Raven Chaos. They invited Rosvi Rodriguez to join as a guitarist, and he accepted. At the same time, his brother Orlando Rodriguez became interested in the project and joined as well.

The difficult part was finding a vocalist who could sing both clean and guttural at the same time. The band auditioned more than 15 vocalists in Montreal, but none of them fit what the band was looking for at that time. One day, the bassist was selling a guitar online, and someone named Frank Guzzi showed interest in buying it. He came to purchase the guitar, and suddenly they started talking about music. The question came up: "What do you play?" Samir responded, "I play bass." Samir then asked, "And you?" to which Frank replied, "I sing." That’s when the magic began. Frank listened to some demos and immediately fell in love with the project, and that’s how he joined Red Raven Chaos.

When Rosvi decided to leave Red Raven Chaos, the band was searching for a guitarist. Oswaldo met Rob Henx and invited him to join the project. At first, Rob wasn’t sure if he would be part of it, as he had other musical commitments. However, one day, Samir went to Rob’s house to buy a guitar pedal, an AX8 Fractal, to use with the bass. At that moment, Rob realized the band was serious and dedicated to the project. He finally decided to join the chaos!

What Inspired the Band's Formation? Simple. We love metal and want to show the world what we are capable of.

First Song Written:"Black Hole" – An idea by Samir Acosta, with arrangements by Oswaldo Contramaestre. This song is on our first album, Chaos to My Eyes.

First Gig:This is an interesting question because the band was formed during the pandemic, and our first gig was a unique experience. It was a live-streamed broadcast in 2021 for a Latin American festival. We've played many shows since and you could find us on the road playing more shows this year!

Future Plans:Our next step will be the release of our second studio album, titled Signs, which will be available on all digital platforms. We're super proud of this album and we cant wait to share it with our fans. We will also be going on tour to promote Signs, check our socials for dates and tickets!

Anecdotes and Interesting Stories:This is something we are always proud to say, as immigrants, we had to adapt to new changes, a new culture, and a new country, where you have to work and study twice as hard to fit in. Our time during the day was very limited, so we decided to start this project by setting practice days at 5 a.m. The only time available for us to play together, develop songs, and define the direction of the project. The funny thing is that at that time, we were using a room that was available 24 hours a day. Unfortunately, there was someone living next to our studio for some reason. So, we would arrive at 5 a.m. to practice at full volume. You can imagine how that person must have felt, waking up to our noise at 5 a.m!
