Origin Story: Woods Of Light is the brainchild of a dedicated musician who began their journey at 15, self-teaching guitar with an early attempt at Metallica's "Master of Puppets." Their first acoustic guitar, a solid cedar top Seagull S6, opened the door to songwriting, complemented by self-taught piano skills. Despite playing a dozen instruments, the artist behind Woods Of Light found a special resonance in songwriting, blending their love for writing and music into a lifelong creative pursuit.

Inspirations & Influences: While the majority of Woods Of Light's personal playlist consists of metal, the project's music is deeply influenced by a diverse range of artists. Early inspirations include The Grateful Dead, who expanded their musical horizons, and Nick Drake, who inspired explorations into open tunings and fingerpicking. Other consistent influences include Ron Sexsmith, Elliott Smith, Johnny Cash, Mark Kozelek, and Nick Cave.

Musical Genre and Style: Woods Of Light's music is best described as acoustic indie/folk/americana, though the artist prefers to transcend labels. The sound is a unique blend that reflects a deep, introspective journey through acoustic landscapes.

Notable Milestones: The first song ever attempted was "And all was lost," a reflection of a young musician's burgeoning creativity. The first public performance took place in high school, with a band rendition of "Cowboys from Hell" at a talent show. Solo performances began around 2007, opening for a punk band in a bar, marking the beginning of the public journey for Woods Of Light.

Future Plans: Brian Gunther, behind Woods Of Light, juggles three distinct musical projects, with plans to finalize and share music from each. Future goals include sharing music locally and beyond, performing live, and dedicating time to recording planned albums in their studio.

Anecdotes: Some of the earliest musical compositions were created with a close friend in an old basement, a testament to the enduring passion for music and collaboration.
