Green Day’s Tré Cool is trading pop-punk for rockabilly, and his latest project is keeping things in the family. The legendary drummer has joined The Chin Chins, a rockabilly-inspired band fronted by his wife, Sara Rose. Blending old-school rock ’n’ roll, blues, and punk attitude, the group is bringing something a little different to the table.

Meet The Chin Chins

Sara Rose originally put the project together, with Tré Cool later joining on drums. The lineup also features guitarist Buzz Campbell and upright bassist Eddie Montoya. The band is now gearing up to release its eight-track debut album, Hellcat, on November 6, 2026.

Fans don't have to wait until then to hear what they're cooking up. The title track, “Hellcat,” is already out, offering a first taste of the band's energetic, retro-inspired sound.

From Green Day to Rockabilly

While Tré Cool is best known for powering Green Day's biggest punk-rock anthems, The Chin Chins explore a different side of his musical personality. And they're not wasting any time getting onstage. The group is scheduled to support Stray Cats throughout November, with additional shows alongside The Interrupters planned for spring 2027.

For longtime Green Day fans, it's a chance to hear one of punk rock's most recognizable drummers in an entirely different setting. The big question: Will Green Day fans embrace Tré Cool's rockabilly side?
