The Origin of Blackjacket

It started with a DJ on KROQ. Luca heard the phrase "black jacket" in passing, and it just stuck. The name had a cool bite to it, edgy, visual, and slick. But the band put their own twist on it: Blackjacket, one word, one sting. Inspired by the Blackjacket wasp, they built their identity around the idea of something sleek, sharp, and commanding attention.

Though each member has deep roots in the LA music scene, the group didn’t come together until 2024. After years of crisscrossing paths, missing connections, and playing in different projects, the stars finally lined up. Blackjacket was born, ready to make noise.

The Sound

If you're looking for heavy songs with massive, melodic choruses, you've come to the right band. Every riff, every verse, every scream is there for one reason, to set up that hook and make sure it lands like a punch to the chest. Think explosive energy meets radio-ready craftsmanship. They aren’t chasing a sound, they’re crafting one.

While their music isn’t bound by any single genre, Blackjacket draws from a wide spectrum of influences. They pull inspiration from great music, period, whether it's hard rock, metal, alternative, or something entirely unexpected. That open-minded approach fuels their creativity and keeps their sound fresh. Instead of chasing trends, they focus on crafting songs that hit hard and resonate emotionally. This diverse taste helps give their tracks both depth and reach, allowing them to connect with fans across genres. It’s not about fitting into a box, it’s about breaking out of one.

The Music

Their first song together, “Blood Stains,” set the tone. Written about the wreckage of a failed relationship, it’s aggressive, honest, and surprisingly catchy. It also became their breakthrough track, the kind of tune that digs into your head and refuses to leave. Live audiences connected with it right away, belting it out from the front row like it was already a classic.

And speaking of songwriting, while Luca often leads the charge, it’s a collaborative machine. With the help of powerhouse producer Eddie Wohl (Anthrax, Fuel, Smile Empty Soul), the band has been sharpening their sound into something truly distinct.

On Stage

They’ve only played one show so far, but it was a banger. Blackjacket made their live debut at the Schecter Party during NAMM, no small feat for a brand-new band. What made it even more surreal? The crowd already knew the words, singing along to every chorus like they'd been fans for years. That kind of energy is rare for a debut, and it gave the band a massive boost of confidence. Their next show is set for the legendary Whisky A Go Go, and if that first gig is any sign, it’s going to be loud, sweaty, and unforgettable. The band has promised an even tighter, more explosive set, and fans are already buzzing. From the stage to the pit, Blackjacket is out to prove they’re not just another new act, they’re the next one to watch.

Milestones & What’s Next

While Blackjacket is new, the members are no strangers to the grind. Each has a history of performing with respected acts and building loyal fanbases. Now they’re bringing all that experience together under one banner.

Currently in the studio recording a new 5-song EP, including a surprise cover and a few exciting guest features, Blackjacket is gearing up to push even harder. In five years? They plan to be everywhere. Signed, touring globally, and building a fanbase that shouts every lyric right back at them.

Bonus Bit

  • Fun Fact: Every member of Blackjacket is over 6 feet tall. It’s basically a band and a basketball team.
